The Ghana Education Service (GES) has dismissed reports making rounds on social media that Michael Owusu Afriyie, widely known as Teacher Kwadwo, has been reinstated into the Service.
In a statement on its official Facebook page by the Head of Public Relations, Daniel Fenyi, the GES described the reports as false, stressing that Mr. Owusu Afriyie has not been reinstated.
The Service noted that if the former teacher, who was dismissed in December 2021, believes his removal was unjust, he is free to submit a formal petition in writing for review.
“The attention of the Ghana Education Service (GES) has been drawn to reports circulating in sections of the media suggesting that Mr. Michael Owusu Afriyie, popularly known as Teacher Kwadwo, has been reinstated into the Service.
“The Ghana Education Service wishes to state that the report is false. Mr. Owusu Afriyie has not been reinstated. However, if Mr. Owusu Afriyie believes that his dismissal, which happened in 2021, is contestable, he is encouraged to submit a formal petition in writing for due consideration. The public is hereby advised to disregard the false reports,” the post read.

Teacher Kwadwo, a Ghanaian public basic school teacher and social media personality, rose to prominence with his “Fix GES” campaign, which highlighted poor conditions in rural schools and called for reforms in the education sector. His dismissal, however, was linked to allegations of insubordination and absenteeism.
Despite his exit from the classroom, he remained a visible voice on social media, often using his platforms to comment on educational and social issues in Ghana.
