Spanish football has been plunged into mourning after the death of 19-year-old goalkeeper Raul Ramirez Osorio, who passed away following a severe head injury during a league match on Saturday, September 27.
The young shot-stopper, who played for CD Colindres in Spain’s Tercera Federación, collapsed after a collision with an opposing forward while attempting to claim a cross during the second half of Saturday’s fixture against Revilla.

Raul Ramirez Osorio dies in Spain
According to reports, he went into cardiac arrest on the pitch and had to be revived by his coach with the assistance of a nursing student who was watching the game.
Despite being rushed to Marques de Valdecilla Hospital in Santander in critical condition, his health rapidly deteriorated, as noted by El Pais. Raul Ramirez then suffered a second cardiac arrest on the way to hospital and was later admitted to intensive care. Two days later, doctors confirmed that he had been declared brain dead.
Meanwhile, according to The Sun, Colindres has announced that his family had chosen to donate his organs, turning their tragedy into hope for others in need.
Real Madrid lead tributes for Raul Ramirez
Since the news was officially shared, tributes have poured in from across Spanish football, with Real Madrid expressing their sorrow and extended condolences to his loved ones, teammates and club.
In addition, La Liga shared a message of support, honouring the memory of the teenager whose life ended far too soon.
Federation president Jose Angel Pelaez, speaking before Ramirez’s death was confirmed, described the overwhelming sadness felt across the football community and offered strength to the player’s family, teammates and girlfriend during such a devastating moment.
