Truecaller has surged past 100 million monthly active users across the Middle East and Africa, marking a 19% year-on-year jump for the caller-identification platform.
The milestone, reached in August, reflects accelerating smartphone adoption in mobile-first economies where phone numbers serve as primary digital identities.
CEO Rishit Jhunjhunwala credits organic growth in key markets like Egypt, Nigeria, Ghana, and South Africa where Truecaller now operates on 20-45% of connected devices.
“MEA’s mobile data boom lets us solve real communication pain points,” he told investors. “We’re deepening regional partnerships because this growth trajectory is sustainable.”
The app’s expansion mirrors digital shifts across emerging economies. Unlike regions dominated by social media logins, MEA users rely on phone numbers for everything from banking to marketplace deals making Truecaller’s spam-blocking and verification tools essential infrastructure.
With offices now scaling in Nairobi and Dubai, the firm aims to embed itself deeper into the region’s tech ecosystem.
