Ghana Tug of War Association (GHATOWA) President Emmanuel Olla Williams has extended heartfelt condolences to President John Mahama, grieving families, and the nation following last week’s fatal helicopter crash in the Ashanti Region.

Williams, also CEO of Dreamland Sports Plus and One On One Foundation, expressed deep sorrow over the loss of eight public servants en route to anti-illegal mining operations.

“We are deeply touched and confused by this tragedy,” Williams stated, urging divine protection for Ghana.

He specifically acknowledged the fallen: Defence Minister Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, Environment Minister Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator Muniru Mohammed, NDC Vice Chairman Dr. Samuel Sarpong, former parliamentary candidate Samuel Aboagye, and Air Force members Squadron Leader Peter Anala, Flying Officer Twum Ampadu, and Sergeant Ernest Addo.

Williams called for sustained resolve against galamsey (illegal mining), stressing that perpetrators “must be ashamed.”

He urged intensified efforts with stricter penalties, emphasizing: “The fight must continue.” His dual role as sports leader and advocate underscores the crash’s cross-sector impact. As Ghana prepares for state funerals, Williams’ message amplifies a national plea: honor the fallen by safeguarding those still serving.
