Many believe a single decision cost Spurs the trophy: taking off Mohammed Kudus while he was still dominating the game.

Why fans blamed Tottenham’s defeat on Thomas Frank
Up until the 79th minute, Tottenham looked in full control. Goals on either side of halftime had put them two up, and Kudus was central to everything good they were doing.
His ability to hold the ball, carry it up the pitch, and relieve pressure kept PSG at bay.
Then came the change. Frank withdrew Kudus and sent on Mathys Tel, while PSG introduced Fabian Ruiz.

The momentum shifted almost immediately. Six minutes later, Lee Kang-In pulled one back for the French side.
In stoppage time, PSG completed the comeback with a dramatic equaliser from Goncalo Ramos, according to GOAL.
The match went to penalties, but Tottenham could not recover. The reigning UEFA Champions League winners held their nerve to seal a 4-3 victory, leaving Spurs players and fans shattered, The Analyst reports.

Fans vent their frustration
After the final whistle, fans flooded X (formerly Twitter) with anger and disbelief.
Many argued that Frank’s substitution robbed Spurs of their rhythm and leadership on the pitch.
Sports journalist @_owurakuampofo summed it up:
“Thomas Frank didn’t need to take off Mohammed Kudus that early. Spurs could barely let the ball stick afterwards and had no one to carry the ball upfield.”
@takyig144 agreed:
“Oh, Owuraku, say again Tel coming in was a very wrong sub he wasn’t even pressing. Sana he come spoil penalty on top.”

Kudus misses out on history
For Kudus, the defeat was especially painful.
Victory would have made him only the second Ghanaian to win the UEFA Super Cup, following Thomas Partey’s triumph with Atletico Madrid in 2018 when they beat Real Madrid after extra time.
Instead, the chance slipped away, leaving Kudus and his teammates to rue what might have been.
