A Ugandan TikToker identified as Nan has captured hearts online after mourning with Ghana the passing of Ghanaian highlife legend Daddy Lumba.

YEN.com.gh had earlier reported that the Ghanaian highlife legend, Charles Kojo Fosu, popularly called Daddy Lumba, passed on Saturday, July 26, 2025, after a short illness.

According to Graphiconline, Daddy Lumba died at the Bank Hospital in Accra. He was admitted to the hospital for an undisclosed illness and gave up the ghost on Saturday morning.

In the now-viral video sighted by YEN.com.gh, Nan confessed she isn’t Ghanaian but said her deep connection to the culture made her feel the weight of the loss.

Displaying her grief, Nan broke into a raw rendition of Daddy Lumba’s iconic song ‘Aben wo ha.’

She claimed that she didn’t know all the words, but singing it was the only way she could express her pain.

Her act of grief resonated with many who praised her for acknowledging the musical giant’s impact beyond Ghana’s borders.

“I think the last time that we really experienced a big death like this that affected everybody was Michael Jackson. Though Ebony really shook us, but no, this is a man that has sung for 40+ years. It is a big tragedy.”

The Ugandan fan added that she was surprised to hear that the singer died at the age of 60, calling it “very young” for such a vibrant and celebrated figure.
