A video of an Uber driver refusing to pick up a passenger because of his payment method has stirred mixed reactions on social media.

In a video spotted by YEN.com.gh, an unnamed Ghanaian in Accra decided to order an Uber to move to his destination. Sadly, he was met with disappointment and strict denial.

Uber driver refuses card payment from passenger

The driver, seated inside the red Suzuki, approached the passenger on the street in Accra.

They went back and forth about the payment method. The driver was unwilling to accept cashless payment from the passenger, who reportedly had no cash on hand.

The driver still refused to accept the cashless payment method from the Ghanaian and decided to drive off.

This action by the Uber driver raised concerns with many Ghanaians who watched the video.

Many Ghanaians reported similar experiences of Uber drivers refusing to accept any payment other than cash.

YEN.com.gh spoke with an Uber driver who had spent years in the business concerning the no-card policy.

He explained that they prefer cash because they can use it to buy petrol for their cars straight away, whereas with card payments, it may take a while for them to receive their money.

Uber driver appreciates President John Mahama

YEN.com.gh had earlier reported that an Uber driver heaped praises on President John Dramani Mahama for what he described as good governance since he assumed office.
