Ghanaian champions Police Ladies secured a place in the semifinals of the ongoing WAFU B Women’s Champions League Qualifiers following their victory on Saturday afternoon.

Police Ladies finished second in Group B after a 3-1 victory over ASKO in their final group match.

Deborah Afriyie scored twice in the fixture while Sophia Agyakwaa scored a stunning strike as Yussif Basigi’s side advanced into the next stage of the competition.

Deborah scored after just eight minutes into the game, capitalising on a defensive mishap by the Togolese side to give Police Ladies the lead.

The lead was doubled in the 13th minute when Sophia fired one past the goalkeeper from some meters away from the halfway line.

ASKO pulled a goal back from the penalty spot after a foul in the 18-yard box.

However, Police Ladies’ two-goal lead was restored after Deborah completed her brace with an overhead kick from close range to make it 3-1.

The result, coupled with Bayelsa Queens’ win over Sam Nelly, meant the Ghanaian side booked a place in the last four of the competition.

They will now face host team ASEC Mimosas in the semis with that game scheduled for Tuesday, September 2.
