Mohammed Kudus to return to London Stadium

The former Ajax star is expected to face a hostile reception at the London Stadium on Saturday. While Declan Rice has previously been booed by sections of the crowd, Mohammed Kudus is likely to hear it from all corners of the ground.

With Thomas Frank at the helm and Champions League football on offer, Kudus’ decision to join Spurs may be understandable, but leaving West Ham for a fierce London rival almost guarantees a backlash.

Meanwhile, the former Ajax man has kicked off his Tottenham career in style. He impressed on his debut during the tough Super Cup clash with Paris Saint-Germain before turning out in Premier League matches versus Burnley, Manchester City, and Bournemouth.

In each game, the former West Ham star showcased his trademark energy, pressing high up the pitch and linking up with his new teammates, tallying two assists in four appearances, according to Transfermarkt stats.

How Mohammed Kudus is transforming Tottenham Hotspur’s attack

Despite an impressive start to life at Spurs, Mohammed Kudus is yet to find the net after four appearances, with ex-coach Martin Allen and sections of the Tottenham fanbase suggesting his current form resembles his early days at West Ham — which eventually dipped sharply.

Speaking to Tottenham News, Allen pointed out that Kudus initially looked like a world-class talent at West Ham before his form dipped significantly, warning Spurs fans to manage their expectations.

To provide a proper context, the ex-Ajax man enjoyed a stellar 2023/24 campaign with the Hammers, racking up 18 goals and 10 assists in 48 appearances. However, his numbers dipped significantly last season, managing just 5 goals and 4 assists, a decline that supports Allen’s concerns.

For now, Mohammed Kudus, who featured in Ghana’s World Cup qualifier victory against Mali on Monday, will be eager to deliver a strong performance against his former club as Thomas Frank leads Tottenham to the London Stadium this weekend.
