Philip Kwabena Agyeman Appiah-Kubi, otherwise known as Roman Fada, has dismissed claims that he circulated unauthorized invitations to the upcoming funeral of late Highlife legend Daddy Lumba.
Speaking in an interview with Kofi Adoma Nwanwani, the media personality and longtime manager of the late musician described the allegations made by Mrs. Akosua Serwah Fosuh (Lumba’s first wife) and Ms. Ernestina Brempomaa Fosuh (his sister) as “false and laughable.”
According to Roman Fada, his recent visit to Kumasi had been misinterpreted, saying, “I went to see Prophet Opambour to discuss preparations for the one-year anniversary of Akua Donkor.”
“Opambour has been like a father to me since my early days at Radio Mercury, so I always pass by when I’m in Kumasi. After our conversation, he asked about Daddy Lumba’s funeral, and I simply told him the family mentioned December 6—that was all,” he added.
He added that the visit had no connection to funeral arrangements, emphasizing that Prophet Opambour even said he would only attend the funeral “if God permits,” before offering prayers for him. “Now people are claiming I’ve been distributing funeral invitations—that’s not true,” Roman Fada insisted.
Roman Fada further noted that as an Asante who respects tradition, he would never take any action outside the authority of the family or funeral committee.
“We all know the case is before the traditional council and also in court .Not even the abusuapanyin or the committee has printed invitations, so how could I be sharing any? Anyone who says I gave them one should come forward,”he stated.
He also addressed circulating claims that he had fallen out with Daddy Lumba prior to his death, saying, “I had no problem with Papa,” he said, referring to the late musician affectionately. “He treated me like a son, and I respected him deeply. The rumors about us are false. Our relationship was based on real love and mutual trust.”
To illustrate their bond, he recounted several moments of professional collaboration and personal trust.
“When President Mahama invited him to a program for senior citizens, the invitation came through me. He even asked me what to wear, and I told him a suit would be fine. Before he passed, he told me to finalize a contract that Wayoosi had brought. So how could anyone say he sacked me?”
Roman Fada’s response follows a press statement released by the Fosuh family on November 6, 2025, signed by Mrs. Akosua Serwah Fosuh and Ms. Ernestina Brempomaa Fosuh. The family accused him of distributing unauthorized funeral invitations and materials, making public statements without consent, and interfering in private family discussions related to the funeral.
In that statement, the family further clarified that the position Roman Fada continues to claim—as “manager” of the late musician—was officially terminated by Daddy Lumba himself before his passing, a fact they say he is fully aware of.
The family has since cautioned the public to disregard any unauthorized information regarding the funeral arrangements, stressing that only official communications from the Fosuh family or the designated funeral committee should be considered accurate.
