Gospel singer Celestine Donkor has shared her thoughts on how friendship changes as people age, revealing that making new friends becomes increasingly challenging after 40.
Speaking in an interview on Okay FM on November 12, 2025, she explained that life experiences make people more cautious, less trusting, and more selective about who they let into their lives. “At 40, your trust level is low, and you’ve become wiser. You don’t easily embrace people,” she said.
She noted that at this stage, most people already have established social circles, which can make it difficult to forge new connections. “Whoever you meet at that age already has their own friends, so it’s not easy to just fit in,” Celestine added. According to her, building meaningful friendships requires deliberate effort and intentional choices.
Celestine also encouraged young people to take friendship seriously early in life.
