Ghanaian music producer and artist manager, Kwesi Ernest, has called on Ghanaians to stop attacking Priscilla Ofori, popularly known as Odo Broni, amid the growing controversy over who the late Highlife legend Daddy Lumba’s rightful wife is.
Speaking in an interview on Power FM, the Media Excel Productions CEO expressed disappointment at the manner in which some members of the public have resorted to insulting and criticizing Odo Broni on social media following the musician’s death. He questioned why some Ghanaians have suddenly found the courage to insult and criticize her now that the musician is no more.
According to Kwesi Ernest, Odo Broni does not deserve the treatment she is receiving, especially after losing someone she spent many years with. He emphasized that people should show empathy and allow her to grieve peacefully.
“Would you have the audacity to be attacking Odo Broni if Lumba was alive?” he asked.
“Whether you see her as a wife or girlfriend, she should be spared the bashing and left alone. This is not the time to destroy her emotionally.”
The media consultant believes the ongoing attacks on Odo Broni are unfair and misplaced. He urged both the public and some industry figures to stop fueling division over a matter that the court and family can best resolve.
He also took issue with Evangelist Papa Shee, a close associate of the late musician, for granting interviews where he discredited Odo Broni and her children, calling it hypocritical for someone who claimed closeness to Lumba to suddenly deny knowing her.
“Let’s stop the insults and leave Odo Broni alone,” Kwesi Ernest said. “She has already lost someone dear to her. The least we can do is to allow her peace.”
Kwesi further disclosed that during his 17 years of working with Daddy Lumba, Odo Broni was the only woman he ever met and was introduced to as the musician’s wife.
“For me, Kwesi sitting here today, for the last 17 years I worked with Daddy Lumba, the only person I have seen, known, and who has been introduced to me as his wife is Odo Broni,” he said.
“She’s the one I go and meet in his house morning, afternoon, and evening, who serves me food and water. She’s the wife I know and she has children with him.”
He added that he would not betray Odo Broni now that confusion has arisen over who Lumba’s legitimate wife is, stressing that anyone who doubts his account is free to “dive into the Korle River or lagoon.”

Kwesi Ernest’s remarks come in the wake of a legal dispute involving Akosua Serwaa, who is recognized by many as Daddy Lumba’s first wife. She has filed a court case seeking a declaration that she is the only surviving spouse and the sole person entitled to perform widowhood rites for the late musician.
The suit, which also names Kofi Owusu Fosu, the Abusuapanyin (family head) of the late musician, and Priscilla Ofori (Odo Broni) as defendants, could potentially affect the final funeral rites scheduled for December 6, 2025, at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi.
Akosua Serwaa contends that her marriage to Daddy Lumba was legally binding at the time of his death on July 26, 2025, and that neither she nor her children were consulted when the family announced the funeral date. She says she only learned about it through social media.
In her statement, Akosua also alleges that the family head intends to allow Odo Broni to perform widowhood rites — a move she describes as unlawful, since she maintains that Odo Broni was never legally married to the late musician.
She is therefore asking the court to restrain Odo Broni from publicly presenting herself as the surviving wife of Daddy Lumba or taking part in any funeral activities reserved for the legal spouse.
