The football community is in mourning following the tragic death of 22-year-old Baylee Eldridge, who was found dead on the Pacific Motorway south of Tweed Heads on Saturday, August 15.

Eldridge, from Melbourne, had been travelling north toward Queensland when the accident occurred. Police confirmed that his unoccupied motorbike had been struck by three vehicles before a member of the public discovered his body around 7:15 pm.

According to 7 News, authorities are still investigating the circumstances leading up to the crash. What is clear, however, is that a vibrant life full of promise has ended far too soon.

Eldridge’s passing has left a deep void at Brunswick Football Club, where he became a beloved teammate after joining in 2022. The club described him as a “great kid” with an “amazing soul,” whose passion for the game and for his team was evident from the moment he arrived.

“On the field, the joy that football gave Baylee was infectious,” the club said in a heartfelt statement.

Known for his fierce tackles and his ability to lift the crowd with crucial goals, Eldridge embodied the spirit of grassroots football—passionate, determined, and driven by love for the game.

Teammates and coaches alike recalled his energy and dedication, describing him as a player who could turn moments of play into celebrations that resonated throughout the club. His untimely passing, they said, leaves a hole that cannot be filled.
